Capt. Atanda Fatai, Technical Committee member, Nigeria Hockey Federation (NHF), says he is confident that the national male and female teams would excel at the forthcoming Hockey African Cup of Nations.
Fatai, who spoke on the country’s participation in the Oct. 22 competition in Egypt, told newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja that the federation was optimistic of good outings.
He said that the Nigerian hockey teams were not only on top of their game but had in recent times improved in performance and form.
The committee member restated the optimism of the federation on the ability of the country’s contingent to validate their good form.
“We are good, though our women are better, but the men also are very good compared to most of the other African opponents.
The team is going to give the entire Africa a podium performance that will help in repositioning Nigeria’s hockey in not only the continent, but the world at large,’’ Fatai said.
The participating countries are Nigeria, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa and Zambia in both the male and female categories.
