Nigerian defender Williams Troost-Ekong has resumed training with his Turkish club Bursaspor after spending the last one week on the sideline due to injury.

Ekong sustained the injury during his club’s Turkish Cup clash against Adanaspor on November 29 which they won 2-0 courtesy of goals from Turkish midfielder Furkan Soyalp in the 11th and the 41st minute.

Ekong limped off the pitch in the 78th minute and was replaced by Ismail Konuk during the encounter.

He was immediately taken to the hospital with tests revealing a muscle strain in his right leg.

However, the dutch born defender posted a picture of himself training again after missing Saturday’s Turkish league action.

Ekong formed a formidable partnership with Leon Balogun in the heart of Nigeria’s defense as the pair ensured Nigeria qualified for next year’s World Cup.

The 24-year-old joined Bursaspor from Belgian club Gent this summer.
